After sealing the signature of Richarlison earlier this week, it appears that Marcel Brands might have finally kicked the summer into high gear. After an Everton contingent traveled to Spain for negotiations, reports from both sides of the equation indicate that the deal for Lucas Digne is at the finish line, if not across it entirely.

Spanish outlets have broken the news that Digne is saying goodbye to his teammates in preparation of the move to Finch Farm.

In fact, Digne himself has already informed some of his colleagues that he is going to Everton and it is expected that on Monday or at the latest on Tuesday he will be already official. As a result, it is to be expected that the Frenchman will not participate in Saturday’s clash against Tottenham in order not to risk. What is certain is that he will not complete the American tour with the Barça team.

Indications are that the deal is worth in the region of £12.9 million, which is lower than Barcelona’s rumored asking price. Say what you will about Lucas Digne’s playing style and it perhaps being overly defensive, but there’s no question you don’t play for PSG and Barcelona without being talented.

We’ll see how this goes, but for now, it’s a deal worth being intrigued about.
