Everton have been going back and forth with Barcelona over central defender Yerry Mina over the last couple of weeks, and now they face Champions League competition for the Colombia World Cup star.
According to French outlet RMC (via Sport), Olympique Lyonnais (Lyon) have changed their mind about which Barca centrehalf they want. The French side, who finished in third place in Ligue 1 last season to qualify for the Champions League group stages, have been pursuing Marlon but now want Mina instead on a loan deal.
West Ham and Southampton have also been interested in Marlon who has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp despite traveling with the group on their USA tour. Marlon spent last season on loan at Nice and will be sold this summer.
A report yesterday said that Mina and his camp were satisfied with the offer made from the Blues and had indicated as such to Barcelona, with all that remains to be worked out is the deal between the clubs. If Lyon can come in with a comparable offer as well as the promise of Champions League football then the Toffees might miss out on yet another target this summer.
