At today’s preseason game, Everton Ladies debuted the new pink and black away kit while Liverpool Ladies debuted an all new squad helmed by new manager Neil Redfearn. Ten players left Liverpool in June but the team made a flurry of new signings in July, including snatching up Everton’s star striker Courtney Sweetman-Kirk.
Simone Magill said before the game “There’s no such word as a friendly when you’re playing Liverpool…” and that made us like her even more.
The last time these two teams squared off was in April and it ended in a 1-1 draw. This time they ended up drawing 0-0, with both teams getting several chances on goal.
Everton Ladies Player of the Season winner Angharad James and Simone Magill both had chances on goal but no dice.
Former Blue Sweetman-Kirk had a few shots on goal for Liverpool that were easily handled by keeper Kirstie Levell.

Claudia Walker is back from her 9 month injury and played the entire first half.
Noticeably missing was Captain Dan Turner.
The two new Dutch players Dominique Bruinenberg and head tennis champion Inessa Kaagman made their Everton debuts.
A player referred to as “Triallist” was subbed on in the 46th minute for striker Everton’s leading goal scorer Chloe Kelly and now we can’t sleep at night until we find out the identity of this mystery woman! Did she make the cut?
Next up:
Everton play Arsenal Women next Sunday but it is behind closed doors and inquiring minds would like to know, will there be more signings in the next month before the season starts?
