Everton have had a £22m offer accepted by Barcelona for Lucas Digne and it’s now up to the player to decide whether he wants to move to Goodison Park.
It’s been well publicised this summer that the Toffees are keen on signing a long-term replacement for Leighton Baines.
A myriad names have been linked, including Celtic FC’s Kieran Tierney, but it appears France international Digne has emerged as first choice.
It was reported on Friday that Everton had made a bid and now the Mirror report that the bid has been accepted.
Digne is reportedly looking to leave Barcelona after his lack of playing time last season saw him lose his place in the France squad for the World Cup.
The 25-year-old featured in only 20 games for Barcelona last season, and despite playing in the World Cup qualifiers for the French, the last of his 21 caps came in March of this year before Didier Deschamps made his final World Cup selection.
With an offer accepted it now rests on whether the player wants to move to Merseyside.
Juventus and Bayern Munich were rumoured to have been interested in Digne earlier in the summer but that has since faded, helping Everton’s cause.
Marco Silva stated that he expects transfer deals to reach a conclusion in the coming week, it seems this particular transfer may well be reaching its end game.
