While the Marco Silva era is looking to kick into high gear in preparation for his upcoming inaugural campaign, the Roberto Martinez era continues to fade away.
On Thursday Everton announced that Shani Tarashaj would be joining his former club in Switzerland, Grasshopper Zurich, on a season long loan.
Tarashaj was brought in by Martinez in 2016 and has never gotten started with the Blues, featuring in just two Under-23 matches and none for the senior squad. To call his time at Goodison a failure would be unfair as it appears he was never going to cut it in the Premier League.
While the 23-year-old did make Switzerland’s roster at the 2016 European Championships, his inability to establish himself at Everton or during his loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt this past season, as well as a number of injuries, prevented him from being in the conversation for the Swiss World Cup side.
Now that the midfielder has moved back to Switzerland he will surely hoping to have his career kick back on and get into the national team picture again. Everton on the other hand will be happy to unload another player, albeit on loan, as they try to pare down an INCREDIBLY bloated roster.
You know, so that some new players can Mal-com in.
Good luck Shani!
