Everton are one of several Premier League clubs being linked with a move for Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro, reports Italian outlet Tuttosport.
The Italian champions are looking to make moves for Joao Cancelo and Aleksandr Golovin this summer and need to free up squad space for both players. To do so they will have to move some players on and one of the likely candidates to be shown the door is Sturaro.
Tuttosport claim that Juventus chiefs Beppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici are willing to listen to offers for the midfielder with a fee of £17.5 million plus bonuses being touted. There is interest from several sides in the Premier League and Everton are rumoured to be among them.
West Ham United, Arsenal and Chelsea are also rumoured as other potential destinations for the central midfielder who is tempted by the experience of playing in England.
What we think
This feels more like Tuttosport listing places that Sturaro could end up rather than them reporting on any concrete interest. It’s also got a sense of rinse and repeat given Everton seem to be linked with a move for the player each and every year.
Here are three links from June ‘17, July ‘17 and January ‘18 -
Similarly, there is a new trend of linking Everton to every possible transfer these days given most know they are undergoing something of an overhaul and have decent money to spend to do so.
A move for Sturaro would make little sense, though, given Everton’s central midfield is already full to the brim as is, especially now that it appears Morgan Schneiderlin could stay after all.
