Everton 1-1 Southampton: What?

Watching football shouldn’t be a chore.

Watching Everton is a chore.

The manager doesn’t want to win. The players, save Oumar Niasse and Seamus Coleman, don’t want to play. Why are we here? What good is this project doing anyone? Meekly submitting to a relegation level side, at home, on the second-to-last day of the season, is an embarrassment.

That’s it, really. This year’s Everton team is an embarrassment. It doesn’t have to be this way, and yet, here we are. The owner, chairman, manager, and players have all contributed to it. The fans are not heard, and so the dreadful performances drag on, never-ending, always sapping us of our will to cheer.

Maybe it’ll change over the summer. I wouldn’t get your hopes up. Nothing that this football club have done in the last year has indicated they’re at all interested in moving forward. Nil satis nisi optimum, my ass. For Everton right now, only the status quo is good enough.

I need to stop pre-writing my recaps. Tom Davies saved us all.
