Sure, the season is winding down, which is something for which we’re all thankful. That doesn’t mean there isn’t Everton news, though. Coming across the wire today is an announcement that the club have re-signed 19 year old midfielder Beni Baningime to a new four year deal.

Baningime, who is eligible for both England and DR Congo, has made 12 first team appearances this season, most recently against Swansea City in Wales. The teenager has shown an enormous amount of potential in limited work, and along with Tom Davies, looks set to be a member of Everton’s midfield for many years to come.
“I’m really happy to sign a new contract and so proud because it represents what I’ve always wanted – which is to be around the first team and fighting for my place. This Club means a lot to me because I’ve been here from a young age. It’s where I want to be and I’m so thankful to everyone at the Club who has helped me get to this point.
“Hopefully this season is the first of many years of me being involved in the Everton first team.”

Almost all of the Blues’ young core is now locked up to long term deals, and with good reason - despite the senior side wallowing in the muck and mire of an awful season, the Everton youth sides have continued to produce results and excellent prospects. Now, if Farhad Moshiri could find a manager to play them...
