With Marcel Brands in the door at Finch Farm, it only makes sense that some of his former players would become linked with Everton in the coming days. Hirving Lozano of PSV Eindhoven is a bit of a curious case, though, as he’s been rumoured to be of interest to the Blues well before the days of Brands.
In a pre-World Cup press conference for Mexico today, Lozano was questioned about a potential transfer to Goodison Park.
Hirving Lozano: Not thinking about whether Everton is an option or not. If Marcel Brands considers me an option, then I’d consider it with my family. I’m thinking about the national team right now. #eltrieng

That’s not quite a no, is it? Lozano seems to leave the door open here, and with the deteriorating form of Yannick Bolasie, the 22 year old would be an excellent attacking option for the Blues’ next manager.
The Mexican winger scored a whopping 19 goals to go along with 11 assists this season in the Dutch league, despite largely playing on the wing. He is electric. He’s also going to be very expensive, with a price tag that would demand immediate first team football.
Ademola Lookman and Henry Onyekuru are going to deserve looks in preseason, and so that may keep Brands from acquiring a winger. If he does look to that position, though, Everton could do a lot worse than Hirving Lozano.
