Unlike last time, it appears that Everton (and Marcel Brands) are wasting no time in appointing their next manager. Despite a potential tussle with always-petty Watford, the Blues are reportedly set to announce Marco Silva as new manager by the end of the week.
Reports in Portugal (via SportWitness) suggest that negotiations are drawing to a close:
The website claims negotiations are still on, but close to an ending, with the agreement expected to be reached in the next few days.
Notícias ao Minuto reports that since sacking Sam Allardyce, Everton have always had Marco Silva as their number one option. But there has been some problems due to Watford’s complains about an illegal approach earlier this year.
Once Silva is in place, you can expect the transfer rumours to heat up with the quickness, especially as clubs may be interested in getting some of their business done prior to the World Cup beginning.
Whatever you think of the Silva appointment, one thing is clear: Farhad Moshiri has mashed the reset button, and bless him for it.
