Internet sleuthing is one of our favorite pastimes here at Royal Blue Mersey, and when someone else does it for us, that’s even better.
Wayne Rooney’s potential transfer to DC United in Major League Soccer has been an item for several weeks now, with the most recent reports basically amounting to Rooney wanting to speak with the next Everton manager to find out what his role might be next season.
Could the deal be close to wrapping up, though? According to the following images captured from portions of DC’s website, that seems like it could be the case.
Guys, the official #DCU online store lists Wayne Rooney as a "featured player." That might not mean anything, of course, but it's pretty curious. (h/t @MLS_Reddit) pic.twitter.com/dNhgTsUTUF

If that wasn’t enough, it appears the United web department went a step further by preparing some words advertising Rooney’s arrival stateside.
Not only that but it looks like someone wrote some Rooney copy and buried it in the site but also didn’t consider Google scraping it (which is how i found it) pic.twitter.com/QEywxAm2Pk

Although you can bet both of these instances will be taken down in the near future, for now, Rooney’s name is still up in DC’s online store at this link. Fancy some merchandise, Blues?
