I’m not sure Everton’s ownership really “get it”. Wayne Rooney returning to Everton made a lot of sense. One last run out at his childhood club. Why not? He’s still good enough to get occasional minutes. And now, it makes perfect sense for him to move to MLS and enjoy the twilight of his footballing career. That was a nice one-year experiment. Moving on.
Now, there is talk of them approaching Yaya Touré. Am I taking crazy pills here?
Touré is a legend. He was integral to Manchester City’s rise as a power of European football. But he’s about to turn 35 years old. His best days are behind him and he’s sure to want a sizable salary to continue to compete. What could that possibly gain for Everton? Please let this be a wild rumour with no legs...just like Touré.
