PSV general manager Toon Gerbrands has confirmed Everton have spoken to technical director Marcel Brands over a move to Goodison Park.
Sky Sports News reported last week that Brands was set to join the Toffees once PSV had secured the Eredivisie title.
In response, the Dutch media claimed there had been no official approach by Everton and reports of a PSV board meeting to discuss Brands’ replacement were false.
However, it does now seem there is something in this story, with PSV now admitting contact between brands and Everton.
Speaking to Fox Sports Holland, Gerbrands said:
“They have recently spoken to him, but also twice in the last year.
“It has not gone through twice and even now the contract is not complete at all. Everton also has to speak to PSV and that is not the case yet. They have only spoken to Marcel, and he’s informed us about this. it is not done yet.
“His feeling must be one hundred percent good. The fact that he has had a conversation with them does indicate that he is considering it.”
Former Everton head of media Alan Myers, who has very good Everton sources, has gone so far to say that Brands will join the Blues as early as next weekend, with PSV on the brink of becoming Dutch champions.
My sources in Holland are suggesting it is likely Brands will agree to join Everton after PSV win the Eredivisie Title next weekend

PSV face Ajax at the Philips Stadion next Sunday and a win will secure their 24th Eredivisie title.
But where will Brands fit in if he does indeed make the move to Goodison?
Current director of football Steve Walsh is under pressure after some poor recruitment last summer.
There’s been conflicting reports suggesting Walsh could be sacked or even work alongside Brands, perhaps reverting back to the role of chief scout, a position where he achieved so much success with Leicester.
Then there is the manager, with fresh speculation linking Everton with Paulo Fonseca or Marco Silva to replace Sam Allardyce in the Goodison dugout.
