Everton’s 2017-18 season is essentially over. There is little, or nothing, left to play for. Sure, the coaching staff could learn a bit more about the team’s less-played talent. But they could also do that in training or during next preseason. Instead, it may be better to just look forward and think about how to re-assemble this club over the summer. Unfortunately, there are plenty of questions to deal with there as well.
Which players are free to leave? Who are some realistic transfer options? Who the heck is going to be managing the team? Perhaps Farhad Moshiri and the board have some of these answers already. Having a plan A, B and even C would be refreshing. As much cash as was spent last summer, things stalled when it came to Gylfi Sigurdsson. And when the team struggled, Ronald Koeman was out of ideas. That can’t happen again.
