The rumours ahead of Everton’s summer are a tad bit concerning, no? Of course, Chris Smalling, Jack Wilshere and Luke Shaw all have quality. All three are probably good enough for the Blues starting XI. But are they the sort of players that this club should be going for at this point in time? It feels a bit like spinning their wheels without making much progress. There is some reason that Manchester United and Arsenal view them as surplus to requirements.
