It feels safe to say that Sam Allardyce will not be Everton’s manager by the start of next season. It’s not that Everton are losing, or even how they are losing. But this club is spinning its wheels with Big Sam at the helm. He’s fine. The Toffees will not get relegated as long as Allardyce is in charge. He knows how to keep a team in the Premier League, but that is his ceiling. There is certainly a market for a coach like that. But Everton should at least try to be better than that. Is Paulo Fonseca the answer? You can’t be sure until he gets the job, but it’s worth a shot.
