Everton Ladies are the underdogs going into their FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal Women on Sunday. The Gunners haven’t lost a game since January and recently beat Manchester City 1-0 to become the WSL Cup champions, and have won the FA Cup a record fourteen times.

Arsenal’s Dutch standout, Vivianne Miedema, is back in action after scoring her 50th international goal in Netherlands’ World Cup qualifying game last week against Northern Ireland. Everton’s Chloe Kelly scored a goal for England U-20s against Norway and Angharad James impressed with Wales against England in their 0-0 draw.

James told evertonfc.com that she learned a lot from playing against several Arsenal players in the England squad during that game and got “a feel for how they play.”

“Hopefully we can do the same as Wales and make sure we are tough to play against and hard to break down. If we can do that, it will give us a platform to go on and nick it.”

The last time the two teams squared off was only last month, and Arsenal won it 1-0. In October, the Gunners beat the Blue Girls 2-0. Arsenal dominated possession in both games, but the Toffees have improved a lot over the season and are ready to give it their all.

Captain Dan Turner said that the team is looking forward to the challenge and that they can make it to the final at Wembley Stadium:

The women’s cup semi-finals will be televised live on BBC for the first time. It will be available live at 12:30 pm BST (7:30 am EST) on the BBC Red Button, online, on the BBC Sport app and on the BBC iPlayer.

The winners will go on to face whoever comes out of the Chelsea vs Manchester City clash for the SSE Women’s FA Cup trophy on May 5th.
