Wednesday’s Toffee Bites: Everton take on exciting Anderlecht playmaker

In today’s links: The U18s lose, Rooney’s is not undroppable, and Mathis returns from loan.

There is one little ounce of me that truly believes Everton have a plan for the summer ahead. That tiny pebble of hope tells me that they have their manager of the future in mind and he already knows three or four players he wants to target as soon as the window opens.

But headlines would beg to differ. Paulo Fonseca rumours have died down. Marcel Brands is keeping the club at arms length. Nothing has come out that would indicate Sam Allardyce or Steve Walsh are anything but secure in their current positions. And all of the transfer murmurs have been laughable.

This next month is going to feel like a decade.
