Everton are expecting to have their pair of veteran fullbacks return for this game at Burnley. Leighton Baines hasn’t played since being taken off against Southampton in the end of November. Meanwhile, Seamus Coleman did make a return from his broken leg but picked up an unrelated leg injury after that, last playing against Crystal Palace three weeks ago.

Another defender Ramiro Funes Mori is getting closer to making his senior side return after recovering from his ACL surgery, but manager Sam Allardyce seemed to indicate that he would play for the Under-23 side again first despite receiving an Argentina call-up.

Eliaquim Mangala, on-loan from Manchester City, underwent surgery this week and will likely miss the rest of the season while goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg is recovering from groin surgery and will only return in a few weeks.

For Burnley, defender James Tarkowski is back and could go right back into the squad. Goalkeeper Tom Heaton dislocated his shoulder in September and has been making his way back, with both players going the duration in a closed-doors friendly on Tuesday.

Scott Arfield has a groin injury and is not expected to play. Jonathan Walters, Robbie Brady and Steven Defour.
