We at RBM like to think we’re a good place for a lot of Everton content — analysis, news, opinion, satire, you name it really. However, we have a confession to make.
We aren’t very good at predictions.
Don’t believe me? Inexplicably, eight of our 11 writers picked an Everton victory last weekend, despite the fact that the Toffees have won two away league matches since the start of calendar year 2017.
We appear to have largely learned our lesson with our picks for the match away to Burnley this weekend — perhaps just a little later than we should have.
The review of our Watford picks won’t take long, because, well...none of us got any right.
Watford Predictions

Nobody earned a single point — nobody had Troy Deeney as the first goalscorer, Jordan Pickford as man of the match (surprisingly), or a Watford win of any kind.
So, the prediction league standings have not changed.

This week, with a trip to Burnley in the cards, we’ve dialed back the optimism substantially.
Burnley Predictions
Writer | First Scorer | Everton MOTM | Winner | Score | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Writer | First Scorer | Everton MOTM | Winner | Score | Points |
Adam | Lennon | Walcott | Burnley | 1-0 | 2 |
Brian F. | Walcott | Walcott | Draw | 1-1 | 0 |
Brian L. | Walcott | Walcott | Burnley | 2-1 | 4 |
Calvin | Barnes | Pickford | Burnley | 1-0 | 3 |
Chris | Lennon | Pickford | Burnley | 2-0 | 3 |
Matt | Barnes | Sigurdsson | Draw | 1-1 | 0 |
Mike | Sigurdsson | Sigurdsson | Draw | 1-1 | 0 |

Tom | Sigurdsson | Walcott | Everton | 1-0 | 0 |
Tyler | Sigurdsson | Gueye | Draw | 1-1 | 0 |
Zach | Niasse | Gueye | Everton | 1-0 | 0 |
The picks are pretty evenly spread across all four categories. Aaron Lennon, Theo Walcott, Ashley Barnes, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Chris Wood, and Oumar Niasse all got votes to open the scoring. Everton’s man of the match voting was split between Walcott, Pickford, Sigurdsson, and Idrissa Gueye.
The results predictions are nearly as across the board. Five writers are predicting a draw — all by a 1-1 scoreline. Four writers have Burnley winning, with 1-0 the most popular scoreline for that result. Finally, two writers have Everton picking up an away win, both by 1-0.
In short — don’t look for goals in this one.
