Everton vs Crystal Palace: Writer Prediction League

Do the Toffees have a bounce-back game in them?

Everton may not play more different consecutive matches this season than last week’s drubbing against Arsenal and this week’s match against Crystal Palace.

The Arsenal match saw the Toffees travel to a place they’ve not won in since the mid-90s, against a team debuting its newly-acquired firepower, without the recently-returned Seamus Coleman. The result, as most of us predicted, was pretty ugly.

This week, Everton hosts a Crystal Palace side who have struggled mightily this season and is in the midst of a substantial injury crisis. Roy Hodgson’s side will be without Connor Wickham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jason Puncheon, Jeffrey Schlupp, Bakary Sako, and Wilfried Zaha — leaving them dangerously short on attacking options.

Throw in last Wednesday’s win against Leicester City, and you’ve got a quite confounding 10-day run.

Let’s quickly review our predictions from last week’s matches, and then never speak of the Arsenal game again.

Nine of 11 writers picked an Arsenal win, but none by the embarrassing scoreline that played out at the Emirates. Predictably, no one had Aaron Ramsey scoring the first goal, nor Tom Davies as Everton’s man of he match.

Those results leave us with these standings as the season begins to draw to a close.
