Everton Ladies start their SSE Women’s Cup campaign on Sunday against Bristol City in the women’s equivalent of the FA Cup, “the most prestigious Cup competition in women’s football.”

The final will take place at Wembley on May 5th and defender Gabby George has her eyes on the prize:

“In the Cup anything can happen, anyone can get to the final and anyone can win it. If we play as well as we can in every round, then hopefully we can make it to the final.”

After a close game against Chelsea, George believes that the Blue Girls have what it takes to prove themselves against the best:

“There are definitely positives to take from the game, we created a lot of opportunities against one of the best teams in Europe but that shows how ruthless the game is and the difference between the top of the table and the bottom. They took their chances, so we need to start doing that, too.”

Everton Ladies played Bristol City a month ago and lost 2-1. The Toffees currently sit in 9th place on the table while Bristol is in 8th.

Projected Lineup:

Goalkeeper Lizzie Durack impressed in the game against Chelsea and is likely to get a start over Kirstie Levell.

Lizzie Durack; Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, Georgia Brougham, Gabby George, Danielle Turner; Angharad James, Megan Finnigan, Olivia Chance; Chloe Kelly, Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, Mollie Green..

Prediction:

2-0, Everton
