What a whirlwind few days it’s been for Everton youngster Ademola Lookman. He’d been struggling to get game time under manager Sam Allardyce, and there were rumblings that he wanted to leave during the January transfer window.

Then, as Aaron Lennon left the club Allardyce insisted that Lookman was going nowhere as fans mistakenly thought he’d finally get a chance to play. Instead, the manager insisted on shipping him off to the Championship.

The teenager declined, sticking to his guns that if he was getting loaned out it would only be on his own terms, and he wanted Red Bull Leipzig in Germany, who are contending for a Champions League spot in the Bundesliga.

Allardyce finally conceded, then astonishingly threw him under the bus during a press conference, saying that he wasn’t happy about the move and that nothing good would come of it.

Just three days later, Lookman was named to Leipzig’s matchday squad, and came on as a late sub with a dozen minutes left in a 0-0 game against Borussia Moenchengladbach. What happened after that is what fairytales are made of, much like his first goal for the Blues a year ago in the romp over Manchester City at Goodison Park.

To top it all, Everton were busy being humiliated in London by Arsenal, and RB Leipzig’s Twitter account was loving it, as the banter below shows.
