After nearly eleven months out with a complex knee injury, Ramiro Funes Mori is finally edging closer towards making his Everton return, and just in time too with only ten games left in the season.
Throughout the rehabilitation process Funes Mori has kept his spirits up and his Instagram feed has always proved to be a source of entertainment for the fans. Speaking with evertontv, the 26-year-old talked about how he made his way back to fitness.
“Of course it’s difficult, being injured for a long time. It’s tough but I had support from my family and I’m very strong mentally.
“I’m very happy to be fully fit, and I’m looking forward to joining the team.”
Just like fellow defenders Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman who were out with long term injuries from before Sam Allardyce was appointed the manager, Funes Mori is eager to prove that he belongs.

He’s made a couple of appearances for the Under-23s and the manager noted that the Argentina international could be in the reckoning this weekend away at Burnley.
“It’s difficult when you’re injured and a new manager comes in. It’s tough because you want to show what you can give to the team and to the Club.
“But he knows every player, I think he has given opportunities to every injured player that’s come back so I am waiting for that opportunity also.”
Funes Mori has 19 senior caps, but would dearly love to add to that total this summer in the 2018 World Cup to be held in Russia.
“Of course I’m thinking about the World Cup but I’ll have to play for Everton in order to do that [play for Argentina].
“I’m just happy to have recovered from the injury but I need to be fit to prove that I can play.”
The players will be glad to have his cheery self back in the squad, here’s wishing him all the best on his recovery and in trying to get a spot in the Argentine squad alongside luminaries like Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain.
