Everton defender Gabby George has made the senior England squad for the SheBelieves Cup, which is a really big deal. The tournament takes place in America and contains four of the top women’s football teams in the world: USA, England, France, and Germany.

George is pretty stoked with her selection:

This will be the first big test for new manager and former Everton player, Phil Neville. Mo Marley, interim Lionesses head coach and also a former Evertonian, is making the trip to the tournament to help out.

One of Neville’s goals is for England to overtake USA’s number one spot:

“If we want to be the best in the world you have to perform in tournaments like the SheBelieves Cup. I know a lot about the French because I’ve studied them. The USA play with an arrogance and a confidence that I think we need to learn a little bit from. They know they’re number one and they believe they’re number one and it’s up to us to knock them off their perch.”

In 2017, USA underperformed at their home tournament and lost to England 1-0 under former manager Mark Sampson.

England leaves for the SheBelieves Cup on Sunday.

You literally have no excuse to miss George take on the likes of Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd because all three matches will be broadcast live on the BBC with the USA vs England match to be aired on ESPN.

Match details:

March 1st 4pm ET: England vs France in Columbus, Ohio, BBC

March 4th 3pm ET: England vs Germany in Harrison, New Jersey, BBC
