This is unfortunate...

Ademola Lookman was a surprise exclusion from yesterday’s squad facing Burnley, and it was later revealed that he had suffered a knock in training during the week. Speaking at his press conference today ahead of Brighton on Saturday, Marco Silva says that Ade is doubtful for the upcoming match as he continues to deal with an ankle injury.

Lookman, 21, has 11 league appearances this season, in which he’s notched one assist, against Crystal Palace. The youngster has appeared to be rejuvenated this season under Silva, and proved himself a valuable asset off the bench.

There have been numerous calls for Ade to step into the starting lineup, most likely in favor of Theo Walcott, but this new injury issue will likely be a setback when it comes to Lookman advancing up the depth chart.

In other fitness news, James McCarthy continues to be ready to play, but has to wait on Marco Silva to select him.

In all, it’s fairly good injury news for Everton, which is important during this stretch as the fixtures are piling up.
