Idrissa Gueye has been one of Everton’s most important and best players for several years running now, and his injury absence was sorely felt in last week’s loss at Manchester City. There has been no follow-up news to Gana’s knock, and it was particularly noticeable that Marco Silva did not mention him at all during his pre-Tottenham Hotspur press conference today.
Could there be more to this than meets the eye? According to reports coming out of France, there very well may be.
#PSG are talking to Idrissa Gueye's representatives about a possible January move. French champions need an extra man in the middle. Fabregas or Fabinho (on loan) being considered. De Jong remains a summer target (L'Equipe) #EFC #CFC #LFC #Ajax

This isn’t the first time Gana’s name has come up when it relates to Paris St. Germain, but it does seem like things may be getting fairly serious. Gueye has been nothing but loyal to Everton, and his commitment cannot be questioned. That said, when a club of PSG’s stature comes calling, you listen. The French side are a Champions League contender. They have a big brand name manager in Thomas Tuchel, and oh yeah, you could play with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Everton must do everything they can to keep hold of Gueye, and that includes entertaining the idea of another contract extension, even if they may not be able to offer the same wage packet as PSG. The Senegalese midfielder is a huge part of what the Blues like to do in defense and with pressing their opponent. Losing Gana would be devastating.
