Everton host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in the Premier League, their first home game against one of the top six sides at Goodison Park this season. Speaking ahead of the clash, manager Marco Silva met the media this afternoon for his pre-match briefing.

Earlier this week the club announced that the new stadium being planned will have a proposed capacity of 52,000 supporters, and while it appears the majority of fans are satisfied with that number and the ability to expand to 62,000 at a later date, the manager was asked about his thoughts on the matter.

“It is very positive. Most of our fans are happy with the number. When you look that it can be raised to 62 [thousand] the others will be happy as well.

“It’s a very good step for us as a club. I’m sure all of us love our stadium at Goodison, but the fans will enjoy [Bramley-Moore].

“I think this is a very good step for the club and these are the right steps to grow as a club. It shows it is one more step to grow. You have to have a good squad and get better every day.

“We want to give our fans the best facilities to come to and enjoy our stadium as well. Even sometimes to convince some players to come here and see how we are growing as a club and are putting ambition behind it from our owner, our Board, our chairman with these types of moves and show how we can continue to improve in the future as a club.”
