Opportunities for Mason Holgate have been few and far between at Everton this season with Michael Keane regaining form, and Kurt Zouma and Yerry Mina both playing well whenever they’ve lined up. Club captain Phil Jagielka hasn’t sniffed the starting lineup since his red card on opening day at Wolves.
With Mina regaining full fitness following his transfer, Holgate last played in the home loss against West Ham United and hasn’t been in the matchday squad since the away win at Leicester City in early October.
Now the Mirror are reporting that the Toffees have told him that he can go out on loan during the upcoming January transfer window. The 22-year-old played in 28 games two seasons ago, and in 21 games last season, but it’s unlikely he’ll get as many chances to play.
While the report doesn’t name what clubs are being mooted for a move to, it does say that there has been plenty of interest from Premier League and Championship sides for a half-season loan for the former England Under-21 international.
Holgate joined the Blues in August 2015 from Barnsley, and signed a new five-year deal in December 2017.
