Everton easily beat Kenyan champions Gor Mahia to lift the SportPesa Cup, with two late goals sealing a 4-0 verdict.

To the surprise of many fans, Marco Silva fielded a competitive starting lineup -

Stekelenburg; Baines, Mina, Jagielka, Holgate; Schneiderlin Davies; Calvert-Lewin, Dowell, Lookman; Tosun

Veteran Leighton Baines might have tweaked something because Beni Baningime came out to start the game at left back after that.

It took only a quarter of an hour to break the deadlock, with Cenk Tosun setting up Ademola Lookman for the opener.

Kieran Dowell obviously enjoys playing against Gor, because he scored a fantastic long range shot against them last season, and then added another goal today.

Silva rung the changes at the hour mark, Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin coming off, Oumar Niasse and James McCarthy, followed by Phil Jagielka and Kieran Dowell going off for two Under-23s Anthony Gordon and Kyle John.

However, it was his last sub Nathan Broadhead who made an immediate impact as he got on the end of an excellent piece of work from McCarthy, winning the ball and then landing a cross deep into the box in the 87th minute.

Niasse finished off the game with the Blues’ fourth a minute later.
