Fulltime: Everton win their first away game of the season! Red card of not, the Blues fully deserved to win this one. Marco Silva came prepared today and the boys stuck to the plan (mostly). Some stellar performances across the lineup, ensuring the 2-1 win.

90’+1’: Morgan Schneiderlin is coming on for Bernard, who had a sensational first half.
Immediately gets in trouble at a corner, Amartey somehow flashes his header wide. So lucky.

88’: Oh Theo. WYD. Two-on-one with Cenk, and Theo’s pass is woeful and it’s cut out.
Everton have really gone for the winner here, which is nice to see, while not necessarily compromising the defence.

77’: GOOOOOOOOOALLLLLLL! Gylfi’s 50th Premier League goal is one of the best! Nifty turn in midfield, strides forward, and then with the outside of his right boot curls one around Schmeichel’s despairing dive and just under the bar.

70’: Double chance, double save. Digne with a good shot saved by Schmeichel, and then Davies’ sidefooted rebound blocked by the keeper too.
Silva going for the jugular, thrown on Cenk Tosun for Tom Davies.

63’: Wes Morgan is off! Stamps on the back of Richie’s heel way up near midfield, all while on a yellow card. Ref has no choice but to send him off. Morgan Schneiderlin was about to come on, but sits back down now.

61’: Theo so close. Great run into space behind the backline and controls the ball well, but his shot is tame right at Schmeichel.

56’: Been all Leicester in the second half. Vardy just offside a couple of times, and then gets away from Keane again but no one to meet his cutback. Chilwell waltzes past half the defence and fires just wide. Oh boy.

46’: The second half is underway.

Halftime: Poor all around from the Blues on the last couple of counters, throw away all the good work done in the first half hour. Really good start to the game though, did well stifling the Foxes and kept everything in front of them. Have had more chances than their hosts too.

45’: Now Tom Davies in the book, hacks down Vardy as the Foxes look to break from another corner.

43’: Wes Morgan embarrassed by Richie there, drags him down for a booking. Ball near the left goalline, just outside the box. Zouma header deflected for a corner.

40’: It’s 1-1, classic Leicester goal, classic Everton defending. Walcott a touch away from making it 2-0 from a corner, instead the Foxes make a break and poor tackles from Gueye, Bernard, Kenny (twice) and Ricardo scores, Pickford got a hand to it but can’t keep it out.

34’: Vardy.. whoa. Ball punted over the top and Vardy vs Keane is a non-contest, but the striker puts it wide of an onrushing Pickford. Whew.
James Maddison has drifted into the middle, and it’s no coincidence the Foxes look best when he has the ball at his feet.

31’: Bernard hacked down by Daniel Amartey, and he’s in the book now. Brazilian making life very difficult for him. A minute ago Theo Walcott had gone down in the box too easily, correct ‘no penalty’ call from Andre Marriner.

30’: Leicester have seen a bit more of the ball, but Everton still look very controlled around the pitch, especially without the ball.

18’: More chances! Walcott has a shot from just inside the box parried out for a corner. And then Bernard is free once again down the left, but his cutback is cleared away.

16’: Ben Chilwell skins Kenny badly down the left, his cross is flicked wide by Jamie Vardy. Close.

9’: Oooh, almost two! The Foxes are all at sea in the back and there’s no Everton foot to stab it in.

7’: Richarlison goal!! Just when we were starting to wonder why he was wandering around aimlessly, Bernard makes some magic! Fantastic jink into the box, and follows it up with a great cross that his countryman just has to tap in. 1-0 Everton.

5’: The Toffees high press is causing some problems in the Leicester backline.

1’: The hosts get us underway.

Lineups: The starting XIs are out, and Bernard will make his first Everton start, out on the left with Richarlison going up top. Thoughts?

We are still waiting to see what the true identity of this Everton team is after a couple more Jekyll-and-Hyde performances in recent weeks. The Blues face a difficult challenge at Leicester City today, with the hosts happy to cede possession to Everton and looking to pick off mistakes with razor-sharp, lightning-quick counterattacks.

I’ll still be a couple more weeks before the trio of Seamus Coleman, Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina will be fit to play, so we might see the same side that lined up last weekend against Fulham.
