In our weekly predictions post, this is usually the spot where I sum up the mood among our bloggers and supporters on the whole based on the Everton results from the previous week.
Well the Toffees put us through a bit of a whirlwind last week, so I think the primary summary is something like this:
Fulham went well. Southampton did not. Let’s quickly review both of those matches and get on with our painful existence.

Everton’s decisive victory over Fulham earned all of us but Brian F. two points, with Pete picking up another two for getting the 3-0 scoreline correct as well.
Only Matt had Gylfi Sigurdsson opening the scoring, while he, Adam D., and Sean correctly had him as the man of the match.
Our resident pessimists were rewarded when Everton failed to secure a victory against Southampton in the League Cup on Tuesday. Both Brians and Matt had Southampton winning — which frankly we all should have seen coming given the club’s recent history in this competition.
A handful of writers picked up points from either the first scorer or MOTM categories, but overall the points output from Tuesday was pretty low.
After our last double matchweek until the holidays, our Prediction League standings look like the following.
Prediction League Table
Writer | Points |
---|---|
Writer | Points |
Calvin | 64 |
Rachel | 56 |
Adam B. | 53 |
Sean | 51 |

Brian L. | 49 |
Tom | 49 |
Matthew C. | 46 |
Brian F. | 45 |
Zach | 44 |
Brian F. remains in first place, but Pete has catapulted up the table into a tie alongside him, while Brian L. is just a point off the pace in second place. It’s a good time to be a Brian.
This week, Everton takes on Leicester City at the King Power — and well folks, we don’t have a whole lot of hope.

Weirdly, I’m the only one to have picked an Everton win this weekend. I’m not sure exactly why I feel the Toffees will get a result here, but it might have something to do with the homemade concoction of whiskey and cough syrup I’ve been shooting into my veins this week.
There are nine votes for a Leicester City victory and four for a draw.
Jamie Vardy is the overwhelmingly popular candidate to open the scoring for the Foxes — not a bad guess since the English striker has three goals in only five appearances so far this season.
Richarlison remains the most common Everton MOTM pick, though my personal favorite selection from that column is Rachel’s pick of Michael Keane — made primarily to be a contrarian and spite me.
