Despite a narrow loss in the end, there was plenty to cheer about in Everton’s performance away at Manchester United this last Sunday. The Blues went toe-to-toe against their hosts, and as promised by manager Marco Silva, attacked them relentlessly at times.
Speaking to evertontv, Silva said -
“We are improving as a team. We are able to compete in this type of game and that is really important for us. It shows that we are growing as a team.
“The players are believing in the messages that we are giving to them. They are working hard in the week to perform at the level that we saw against Manchester United.
“Of course, we are unhappy with that result but now is the moment to analyse the game, then recover and to prepare for the next match because we have to do everything we can to win it and achieve three points.
“This is our way. I told the players at half-time that it is not easy to be at a place like that and be 2-0 down. But I never saw them giving up and that is a good sign for us, that they are trying until the end.
“You could see the fans giving them an ovation at the end of the match and that reflects that. The fans were unhappy at the result, like us, but they kept believing in us and for sure we will be stronger again next week.”
The Blues return to Goodison Park next weekend as they host Brighton Hove & Albion, and will need the supporters roaring them on right from the first whistle to get back on the winning trail.
