After halting an early season slide that saw the Blues draw two in a row before losing another pair of games, Marco Silva has now seen Everton climb up to eighth in the table following three straight wins, and the manager wants more.

Speaking after Everton’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, Silva was pleased to see his squad taking shape but also wanted his charges to stay focused on improving with a spot in Europe on the line as well.

“We have shown that everyone wants to fight and wants to play for the club, for the team, whether they start the game or not.

“That is important. You can not just be about 11 players. We need everyone to be fighting to show they want to play, and we saw that.”

Silva for the first time this season has his full squad available for selection, so it’ll be interesting to see if he continues with the same side for stability, or mixes it up depending on the competition level he sees in training.

“We have our aims, we want to progress this season, and it is important we build momentum. We set the goal to achieve the third win in a row.

”It’s really important after we had some not so good results earlier in the season – and you can see the confidence of the players growing game by game.

“I want our squad ready to react every time. Now we are in a good moment, it’s important we keep this but we know the Premier League is really hard and every game is a different challenge. We have to be ready for everything if we are going to aim higher.”

While the Everton side still has flaws and there remain questions about the creativity in midfield, the project that Marcel Brands and Silva are building is certainly starting to take shape and looks pretty good right now, but there’s more to come.
