You are no doubt tired of hearing countless times that Everton have never won the League Cup. After a comfortable win over Rotherham United in the previous round, the Blues host Southampton tomorrow in the Third Round, having already beaten the Saints earlier this season at Goodison Park in the Premier League.
Southampton have had a difficult start to the season with just one win in seven games, and currently sit in 16th place in the table. They lost 2-0 away to Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend and host Chelsea this coming Saturday, and it’ll be interesting to see if Mark Hughes prioritizes Premier League survival over the Carabao Cup.
Marco Silva meanwhile is looking for some consistency in his starting lineup and will likely name a strong squad for tomorrow’s game. The Blues looked good especially in the second half on Saturday and the manager as well as the fans will be wanting more of the same against the Saints.
The draw for the Fourth Round has already been done and the winners of tomorrow’s clash will travel to Leicester City on the week of October 29th.
