According to tomorrow’s Daily Mail, former Arsenal and Manchester City attacker Samir Nasri could be a target for Marco Silva in January. He lifted the Premier League title twice as well as the League Cup in his six years at City.
Nasri has fallen off the footballing radar in recent years, and is currently suspended under a doping ban until the end of this year. He received the ban for getting an intravenous drip containing a banned substance while on vacation in the USA, but can start training with clubs from next month onwards.
The Frenchman left Turkish club Antalyaspor and is a free agent currently after the original six month ban was extended by to 18 months. Despite the treatment being taken for dehydration, the player was still found guilty of consuming ingredients on the World Anti-Doping Agency banned list.
This is an interesting move by Silva for the 31-year-old who can feature all over the advanced midfield and attacking positions, and likely will provide depth to Silva’s squad with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bernard the key creators for the side currently.
If Everton do go ahead and sign the player, it’ll likely mean that Kieran Dowell is not ready for the senior squad quite yet and could go out on loan this January.
More to come.
