No television broadcasters have picked up the game despite this being the only remaining tie of the round on a week where there is no other domestic action. The remainder of the Third Round fixtures were all played last week with the Blues’ game being moved out due to fixture congestion and security issues as Everton and Liverpool cannot both play home games on the same day, and with the Blues playing Sunday then Saturday, there was no other viable date.
A big reason for there being no television option unfortunately is that this is European football week too, with the Champions League taking precedence unfortunately.
The draw for the Fourth Round was conducted on Saturday, and should the Blues beat the Saints tomorrow, a trip to Leicester City would be next. The Foxes are rounding out into good form and will present a difficult challenge if Everton are to progress and win the League Cup for the first time ever.
The Fourth Round ties will take place during the week commencing October 29, but the Blues are likely to play on Wednesday, October 31, given Everton face Manchester United in the Premier League on the previous Sunday, October 28.
