There are plenty of rumors about who may leave Goodison during the current January transfer window, and when it comes to Kevin Mirallas, Sam Allardyce has confirmed the talks are more than rumor.
When asked about the prospect of selling Mirallas, whose lack of form is only matched by his lack of hustle, Allardyce didn’t mince words.
“Him leaving depends on many factors. Does he want to go? Is the club right for him? Is the transfer fee right for us?”
A quick breakdown of those supposed ‘barriers’ reveals that Mirallas may as well be standing at the train station now, just waiting for a train to anywhere.
So in an effort to expedite the Belgians departure, let’s answer Allardyce’s questions!
- Does he want to go?
OF COURSE HE DOES!!
Don’t forget he wore Olympiakos shin guards on international duty (oh Bobby) right after the summer transfer window closed when a last minute move back to the Greek giants apparently fell through.
2. Is the club right for him?
I think I speak for everyone associated with Everton when I say:
Mirallas’ lack of professionalism has seen him give up his right to dictate his destination.
While I don’t think it’s fair to ship him somewhere like India if he doesn’t want to, I don’t think he should be choosing his next team. (Though I can’t imagine he will have THAT many options.)
3. Is the transfer fee right for us?
Is it bankable money??
Then the transfer fee is right.
While I appreciate the fact that Everton will want to maximize their value for the formerly talented winger, there has to be some consideration for the impact a disgruntled player has on a squad already struggling with confidence and identity issues.
How immature and unaware is Mirallas? Check out how he interacts with Blues online.
Then again, for all my certainty, I am drawn back to Big Sam’s other comments concerning Mirallas at his press conference Thursday:
“You never say never to what goes on in the January window.”
