Young striker Jarrod Bowen has been tearing it up in his first full season for Hull City in the Championship, and Premier League sides have been taking interest. Scouts from eight teams were on hand Saturday to watch as he scored once and assisted the other to knock out Nottingham Forest from the FA Cup.
The Mail note that Everton were joined by Newcastle, Brighton Hove & Albion and Burnley alongside other unnamed watchers, with Bowen banging in his 12th goal of this season. Despite the best efforts of Everton darling Kieran Dowell for Forest though, Hull went on to win 2-1.
The 21-year-old who has played primarily as a right winger is only in his first season for Hull City after starting off his career with now-defunct Hereford United, but he has been gathering plenty of attention with his performances this season.
However, his manager Nigel Adkins is adamant the club will not sell him during this January transfer window, especially after signing him to an extension until 2020 just a few months ago.
“You just don’t sell him. We’re not looking to sell him. (No bids), not that I’m aware of.
“I’m pleased we won the game, we deserved it, we had a lot of opportunities and I’m pleased we took two, we could have took more.”
Bowen featured in seven Premier League games last season for Hull before they got relegated, but wasn’t in the squad for either match against the Blues. He certainly seems to have turned it on this season and an England youth call-up is on the way, but if the Toffees are indeed interested in the player then he could use some time with the Under-23s as he won’t be displacing newly-signed Theo Walcott any time soon.
