Seamus Coleman ready for return to action

He’s back!

There has not been much good news coming out of Finch Farm recently, but this has the potential to make up for it all:

Seamus Coleman will make his season debut tonight for the Everton U23s against Portsmouth. Our favorite right back has been out the better part of a year due to a nasty double leg break, and his return cannot come too soon.

The 29 year old has been sorely missed bombing up and down the right flank at Goodison Park, despite Jonjoe Kenny’s admirable fill-in work. The Blues need Coleman’s attacking ability, and his defensive acumen will improve whoever lines up next to him in the coming weeks - be it Mason Holgate or Michael Keane.

Even better? Coleman’s return will be broadcast live on YouTube (free) tonight, and there’s a special announcer for the match.

It’s unlikely Coleman plays any more than 45 minutes - if that - and he’ll still need several of these youth games before working his way back to Premier League fitness, but there’s finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

Coleman has been one of the Premier League’s top right backs for years now, and if he’s able to get back to anything like the form he was in prior to Neil Taylor’s grotesque challenge, the league will be better for it. 60 grand, I say.
