Losing is no fun. Getting knocked out of the FA Cup early is no fun. Losing to Liverpool is no fun.
So losing to Liverpool in an early round FA Cup match is really no fun.
The only consolation for RBM staffers? Most of us at least predicted it!
Before we dig into our writers’ picks for the upcoming match in London against Tottenham Hotspur, let’s review those Merseyside Derby picks to see who our big winners were.
Liverpool FA Cup Predictions
Writer | First Scorer | Everton MOTM | Winner | Score | Points |

Writer | First Scorer | Everton MOTM | Winner | Score | Points |
Adam | Can | Pickford | Liverpool | 2-0 | 2 |
Brian F. | Firmino | Pickford | Liverpool | 3-1 | 2 |
Brian L. | Rooney | Rooney | Draw | 1-1 | 0 |
Callum | Gueye | Gueye | Everton | 1-0 | 0 |
Calvin | Oxlade-Chamberlain | Pickford | Liverpool | 3-1 | 2 |
Chris | Solanke | Sigurdsson | Liverpool | 2-1 | 5 |
Matt | Firmino | Sigurdsson | Liverpool | 3-1 | 3 |
Mike | Mane | Pickford | Liverpool | 3-1 | 2 |
Sean | 0 | ||||
Tom | Sigurdsson | Pickford | Draw | 1-1 | 0 |
Tyler | Rooney | Rooney | Everton | 2-1 | 0 |
Zach | Firmino | Sigurdsson | Liverpool | 2-1 | 5 |
Chris and Zach both correctly predicted Liverpool victories by the score of 2-1 with Gylfi Sigurdsson taking home Everton man of the match honors — so five points to each of them!
Matt also picked the Icelander as the man of the match, while all together, seven of us correctly guessed that Liverpool would win. We’d much rather have been wrong, but at least we got something out of the ordeal.
Unfortunately for this week’s big winners, there isn’t much hope for them in the overall standings.
Prediction League Standings

Sean | 54 |
Chris | 52 |
Adam | 50 |
Tyler | 49 |
Zach | 49 |
Tom | 46 |
Chris jumped up into the top half with those points, but remains 20 points off Mike in first place. Zach’s five-point week took him out of sole possession of last place...and into a three-way tie for last place.
This week’s match against Tottenham features two teams just outside of their desired finishing spot — Spurs sit three points out of fourth place and a Champions League spot, while Everton sits in 9th, outside potential Europa League places.
Though it hasn’t been a perfect season for Harry Kane and Tottenham, they’re in decent enough form that we, on the whole, don’t give Everton much of a chance in this match.
Tottenham Hotspur Predictions

Tom | Kane | Tosun | Draw | 1-1 | 1 |
Tyler | Kane | Sigurdsson | Spurs | 3-1 | 2 |
Zach | Kane | Pickford | Draw | 1-1 | 0 |
None of us predicted an Everton win, though four foresee a draw — which would be a good result for the Toffees at this stage.
Harry Kane dominated the first goalscorer column, with only Dele Alli and Yannick Bolasie getting other votes. Jordan Pickford leads the way in MOTM votes, with Gylfi Sigurdsson and new man Cenk Tosun also notching two votes each.
