The RBM prediction league occasionally puts our writers in a bind — one in which they might get a little bit of joy out of an Everton loss!
Our staff’s pessimism paid off in their predictions last match against Chelsea, but this week we’re a little more optimistic about Everton’s chances against Tottenham Hotspur.
Let’s start by looking at our picks from before the international break — correct predictions are in bold.
Chelsea Predictions

Eight out of 12 writers predicted a Chelsea victory, and received two points as a result. Only Mike correctly guessed the 2-0 scoreline, though, and received an additional two points as a result.
Nobody had Cesc Fabregas getting the first goal, nor Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the RBM-voted Everton man of the match.
The season is still early, but we’ve already got a few writers creating space at the top of the prediction league table.

This week against Tottenham, there are some very clear expectations shared by a bunch of our writers. Those predictions are below.

Harry Kane won a whopping six votes as the opening goalscorer — half of the participating field. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dele Alli, and Sandro Ramirez each picked up two votes as well.
Man of the match voting was a little more scattered. Calvert-Lewin led the way with three votes, while Morgan Schneiderlin, Sandro, and Idrissa Gueye each got two votes. Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, and Gylfi Sigurdsson round out the picks.
Half the field (six writers) is predicting a 1-1 draw between Everton and Tottenham at Goodison Park this weekend — that’s the most single-scoreline predictions I can recall since we started the prediction league last season.
Four writers picked a Tottenham victory, two by a 2-1 tally. Only Chris and Tyler have Everton picking up a home victory, both with 2-1 scorelines.
