Despite looking sharp in his preseason appearances, Ademola Lookman has not had much luck getting playing time in the two competitive games that Everton have played so far.
The Mail are reporting that Derby County are among a number of clubs keenly watching developments at Goodison Park, with a view to taking the youngster on loan for the season.
The Championship side sold Tom Ince to Huddersfield Town, and now manager Gary Rowett is looking to add some pace to his attack. Interestingly enough, that is the exact reason that Ronald Koeman should keep Lookman at Goodison Park, because the Everton attack has looked slow and ponderous for long periods this preseason.
Fellow winger Aaron Lennon has also been linked a loan move to Watford, which once again sounds like a bad idea considering the Blues did not buy a single wide player and even went on to sell Gerard Deulofeu early on in the transfer window.
Everton signed Lookman this January for £7.5m from Charlton, and he went on to make eight appearances, scoring a solitary goal in his debut in a 4-0 rout of Manchester City.
Not sure what to make of this rumour - Lookman needs to play regular minutes to get him comfortable, but a step down to the Championship might not be the best idea. Koeman’s personnel choices show no plans of playing out-and-out wingers, and in that case what happens to Lookman?
