Does this mean there won’t be an announcement today either?

Whether Everton go out and get the marquee signing the fans have been craving for or not, bringing superstar Wayne Rooney back home has the feelgood factor that just adds the cherry on top of what has been a tremendous offseason so far in terms of transfer market activity.

When news broke earlier today that Rooney was at Finch Farm for a medical, fans started showing up at the gates of the Blues training facility to catch a glimpse of the player.

The player just left within the last hour, which makes us wonder now if there will be an announcement forthcoming today at all, or if this is now going to carry into tomorrow. There is also the possibility that the club could just make an announcement but the press conference and the rest of the unveiling will not happen until Sunday.

Respected Everton source Alan Myers tweeted that there were still contract and transfer details to be worked out yet, and this would stretch into tomorrow.

There has been no confirmation from the club yet about the terms or the length of the deal for the player, and Manchester United haven’t confirmed it on their end either.

UPDATE: 7:15pm BST / 2:15pm EST

The Liverpool Echo are now reporting that the medical has been passed and the deal has been done as well, with just the announcement to come, likely tomorrow.

There is also the possibility that he will be announced on Monday, the day the new kit is expected to be unveiled.
