It sure sounds like Romelu Lukaku has had a lot to celebrate this week, culminating in Manchester United likely breaking the world record for transfer fees in signing him from Everton.

Within an hour after the United Twitter account posted that the Red Devils had reached an agreement with the Toffees over the signing of the Belgian forward, celebrity gossip website TMZ went live with a story that somehow remained under wraps despite all the media spotlight on the player this week.

Apparently Beverly Hills police were called out six times to quell the noise on the night of July 2nd as Lukaku hosted a party at the Hollywood mansion he has been renting while out on vacation. Neighbours were evidently unimpressed by how much noise he was generating - he must’ve been on international break.

It ended with the Belgian receiving a police citation for disturbing the peace, but it did not result in an arrest as many media sources are reporting. A citation of this nature usually results in a fine, one which the player should be able to pay easily following his blockbuster move.

UPDATE: 1:30pm EST / 6:30pm BST

It appears Lukaku will have to appear in court on October 2nd to answer to the charges filed against him.
