This is it, friends. The Romelu Lukaku transfer saga took a hard left turn towards Manchester United in the last 24 hours, and seems like it could be hurtling towards the finish line.

Per the Mirror, the Belgian will have his United medical exam in Los Angeles where he's on extended vacation some time tonight, West coast time.

Paul Pogba reportedly played a huge role in recruiting Lukaku to Old Trafford, where the two friends will now meet up in an effort to finish fifth instead of sixth.

Close friends Lukaku and Pogba have been holidaying together on the west coast of America and both are expected to join up with Jose Mourinho’s squad in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Pogba is understood to have played a key role in persuading Lukaku — who will undergo his medical in the US on Thursday night — to abandon a return to Chelsea and instead link up with him and Mourinho at United.

...

Lukaku is understood to have been offered a four-year deal with the option for a further 12 months and is set to earn a salary in the region of £200,000-a-week.

The Everton fanbase has seemed to be at odds over Lukaku’s popularity, but no matter what side of the argument you fall on, the Blues will desperately miss big Rom’s on-field contributions.

Ronald Koeman’s Merseyside project showed all the ambition in the world this summer, but in the end, it didn’t matter. Romelu Lukaku wanted to leave. Off he goes.

More to come.
