Feels like the 2016-17 season just ended, and yet here we are heralding the start of yet another season in Everton’s storied history. The Everton players will start trickling in tomorrow to mark the beginning of the 2017-18 season, which starts as early as it does due to the Toffees having to play in the Third Qualifying Round of the Europa League at the end of this month.

All the players who were involved in international action over the summer will be given a few more days for rest while the rest of the squad will be expected back at USM Finch Farm tomorrow.

As reported by the Echo, these are the players who will be resuming training -

GOALKEEPERS - Maarten Stekelenburg; Joel Robles

DEFENDERS - Leighton Baines; Phil Jagielka; Ramiro Funes Mori; Matthew Pennington; Brendan Galloway; Tyias Browning; Luke Garbutt

MIDFIELDERS - Morgan Schneiderlin; Tom Davies; James McCarthy; Kevin Mirallas; Gareth Barry; Mo Besic

FORWARDS - Ross Barkley; Shani Tarashaj; Oumar Niasse

Both Seamus Coleman and Yannick Bolasie, who are recovering from long-term injuries, are also expected back at the Halewood facility to continue their rehabilitation.

Of particular interest to fans will be the presence of Ross Barkley. The player has refused to sign a new contract and Ronald Koeman maintains that he will be sold this summer with one year left on the current deal as the Blues will not let him walk for free.

In addition, also in question will be the futures of Shani Tarashaj and Oumar Niasse. Tarashaj spent the season out on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt without making much of an impression, while Oumar Niasse played well at Hull City and it will be interesting to see if Everton give him another chance or he will get loaned out again or sold.
