Everton are set to battle Swansea City for the signing of Las Palmas midfielder Jonathan Viera, reports Spanish newspaper Marca.
The Blues are pushing ahead with their summer transfer business, having already completed five signings so far.
Adding a creative midfielder to the ranks appears to be the next priority, as evidenced by the continued pursuit of Iceland star Gylfi Sigurdsson.
However, the latest reports suggest that the Swans will not sell their star man for anything less than £50 million, a price even the new, money rich Everton may not be willing to go to for his signature.
If that proves to be the case, back up options are likely to have been lined up and one of them appears to be currently plying his trade in La Liga.

According to Marca, Everton have earmarked Las Palmas star Jonathan Viera for a move and are looking to push ahead with a move for his signature.
The Spanish side, much like Swansea, are determined to keep hold of their star man, though, and have warned any suitors that they will have to activate the players release clause to get him.
That price currently stands at €30 million, around £26.2 million, and while no formal offer has been presented by the Toffees it has been made obvious that is something they would be willing to match outright.
Should they do so, they will face competition from within England, with both Swansea and Newcastle United named as fellow admirers of the 27-year-old.
