Cuco Martina, Jordan Pickford, and Sandro Ramirez have linked up with their new Everton teammates for the first time following their summer moves to Goodison Park.
The trio joined the team at Finch Farm this morning, with the Sandro and Pickford coming off duty at the U23 Euros, while Martina was away with Curacao at the Gold Cup and has only just signed for the club. They were then named in Everton 25-man squad that flew out to the Netherlands today for a week-long pre-season tour.
With Mateusz Hewelt departing for the U23 preseason tour, Joel Robles has returned to the team despite rumors of his departure, as has Mason Holgate after his international obligations.
Predictably, Ross Barkley remains behind as reports of his imminent sale swirl. Paul Joyce has said that Barkley remains unfit for game time, which may be true, but the player was involved with preseason training before the Blues’ matches began.
Ramiro Funes Mori is still out injured.
As well as the usual fitness work, the tour will take in two friendlies, against FC Twente on Wednesday before a trip to play Belgian side Genk on Saturday.
Though we are still relatively early in the summer these games represent Everton’s final two friendlies before their first competitive game of the summer against SK Brann or Ruzomberok in the Europa League third qualifying round.
Therefore we may gain some clues as to how the Toffees will line up this season in the coming week.
The full squad headed to Holland is as follows:
Maarten Stekelenburg, Joel Robles, Jordan Pickford, Leighton Baines, Ashley Williams, Phil Jagielka, Callum Connolly, Mason Holgate, Jonjoe Kenny, Cuco Martina, Michael Keane, Morgan Schneiderlin, Davy Klaassen, James McCarthy, Idrissa Gana Gueye, Gareth Barry, Mo Besic, Tom Davies, Kieran Dowell, Kevin Mirallas, Aaron Lennon, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ademola Lookman, Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramirez.
