Everton winger Aaron Lennon has issued a statement this evening thanking the fans for supporting him as he made his recovery from a stress-related illness. The player was hospitalized following the issue in May.

While little has been divulged regarding his condition out of respect for Lennon’s privacy, he is understood to be recovering well and joined up with the rest of the squad last week for preseason training.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman also announced today during the Wayne Rooney press conference that the player was indeed back and will be part of the team’s pre-season plans going forward.

When Koeman was asked about Lennon’s condition during one of the last games of the season, he had said that the club would do everything they could to help the player, and stressed that "Life and health is more important than football".

In his tweeted statement today, Lennon said -

Everton’s winger depth is pretty thin with Yannick Bolasie not expected back until the next calendar year, and Gerard Deulofeu sold back to Barcelona this summer. The return of Lennon to full fitness would provide Koeman with a welcome respite and an outlet to match Kevin Mirallas on the right side.
